Beautiful Tuya

In Mongolia this year I really connected with a beautiful girl named Tuya. Two years ago she and her sister were more quiet around our team, but this year I really felt a connection with her. She wrote me a letter before we left, which I still have and will probably always keep.
Bonnie got back from Mongolia a few weeks ago, and with her came letters for our team written by some of the kids. Today I got an envelope from "Far Far Away". When I opened it I had a letter from this dear girl. It's times like these when I don't know how I can't go back.

She asked me to come back next year, but this time I need to bring my boyfriend. I guess I should get cracking on that...

Destination - La Coruna

I'm going to Spain!!! My flight path was Portland, Oregon to Chichago, Illinois, to Madrid, Spain to A Coruna, Spain.  I was supposed to leave on Thursday morning around 7am and arrive on Friday afternoon around 11:30am.  Caught the "supposed to" did ya?  Well as travel goes, it wasn't exactly according to plan. That's me waiting to board in Portland. Look how happy I am... That's before they announced the delay due to weather.  No worries though, I had a 4 hour layover in Chicago so I just waited it out. We boarded about an hour later than we were originally supposed to.  Once we got onto the tarmac to leave though we got news that Chicago was still having issues and now we had to wait about another 40 minutes. Eventually though, we got in the air. Just for fun

I'm looking through my pictures, trying to find a specific one, but I've run across these four pictures that I just want to post. No big reason other than it was a fun weekend. A while ago Stess came up to Ptown and we got to hang out with our "Brothers" Ryan and Kyle. Kyle didn't look at the camera, Ryan made a face, my camera didn't focus on Stess and I, and then the sky was just cool. So, for no real reason, enjoy!

Barn Party 2007

I had a great time tonight at the 3rd Annual Barn Party! For the first time I entered into the chili contest and the pie contest. I was quite surprised to actually win both! Of course, mine was the only fruit pie, but I was up against some tough competition with spicy chili. Especially since I don't really like chili, or spicy stuff. I had Crista taste it first, and then another friend. I actually didn't taste it until after Stess had put some in her bowl. Wow it was spicy! I do have a funny story to go along with my items. Pictures are worth a thousand words, unfortunately I don't have a picture of this, so you'll have to use your imagination. On the way to the party Stess had the crock pot of Chili sitting in a large cardboard box on her lap. In her hand was the pie in it's pie plate.
