Destination - La Coruna

I'm going to Spain!!! My flight path was Portland, Oregon to Chichago, Illinois, to Madrid, Spain to A Coruna, Spain.  I was supposed to leave on Thursday morning around 7am and arrive on Friday afternoon around 11:30am.  Caught the "supposed to" did ya?  Well as travel goes, it wasn't exactly according to plan.
That's me waiting to board in Portland. Look how happy I am... That's before they announced the delay due to weather.  No worries though, I had a 4 hour layover in Chicago so I just waited it out.

We boarded about an hour later than we were originally supposed to.  Once we got onto the tarmac to leave though we got news that Chicago was still having issues and now we had to wait about another 40 minutes. Eventually though, we got in the air.

Once we landed in Chicago, because of the delays, there was a back up to get to the gates.  By the time we were able to depart, I'd missed the boarding time for my flight.  I booked it to the gate, fully expecting to have missed my flight, but was actually in time, and even got to go to the bathroom before boarding. Unfortunately though, no time to get food or coffee. Oh well.

The flight to Madrid wasn't packed. I moved to the row behind me and shared it with another guy who moved up, so we each had two seats all to ourselves.  Still wasn't an amazing flight, but it was passable. Better than crammed in the middle with no room to stretch.

Snapped this picture of the Madrid airport as I was trying to find the gate to my last flight.  THAT's the one I missed. Made it to the gate literally just after they'd closed the door. Truthfully though, I didn't really worry about it. I figured they'd get me on the next flight out and worst case scenario... I have to stay in Madrid for the night. Bummer. I just call A.D. find out who to stay with and enjoy the evening. However, there was another flight just about two hours away. The airline gave me a voucher for lunch and I enjoyed that along with...

My first Cafe con Leche. Yum!

Finally arrived in A Coruna. Work had a driver ready for me.  All three of my bags were present and accounted for and off we went. It was a beautiful and quiet ride through the city to my amazingly beautiful hotel!  I got checked in, grabbed the key and headed to the fifth floor where my ocean view home for the next six weeks awaited.  Here's the view from my window...

Yeah, pretty nice if I do say so myself.

So there's the journey.  I've arrived!  I'm here in this beautiful city for the next six weeks. I got here on Friday, class starts on Monday. Friday afternoon, all day Saturday and all day Sunday to explore. Oh, and the weather is supposed to be amazing and sunny and warm... Just may check out those beaches down there...

Crybabies!

Some adults are such crybabies! I've been teaching a new product training class these past few weeks and it's amazing how some people are flat out crybabies when it comes to doing their job. This class has a test at the end, 12 questions. True, some of the questions aren't that great, and there are a few that are wrong, but for the most part, the test is fine. This week I'm working on having those people who didn't pass the first time. They are a bunch of babies! Now granted, there are some great people who know it's a test, know there's not a lot they can do about it and know that I'm just the messanger. However, it's the people who come in griping and grumpling about how they're just stupid tests and they've never passed one before so why worry now that really frusterate me! It's not my decision to test you. I didn't write the test. I didn't decide to make the product work, or not work, the way it's designed. Just

Home Sick

Right about now I get a little bit "home" sick. No, it's not for my childhood home or where my parents live, though I miss that home too. But today I miss my Mongolian home. For the past two years I've either been there now or headed there soon. Unfortunately, this year, I'm not going and that's sad. I'll readily admit I can see why and I see God's hands in this (especially since I'm going to the Philippines!!!) but still, I miss my Mongolian home. I've been looking at my pictures tonight and thought it'd be appropriate to post some. So, though you may have never been, I hope you enjoy them even half as much as I do! Ulzi and Moogi and their family. They're in the Philippines right now! Our breakfast table... Having fun in the river I'm pretty sure one of the kids was taking this picture... :) Turtle Rock in the background goofing off while playing cards... again, I think the kids were taking this picture. Mongolia Part 2

I spent quite a bit of time last night trying to upload some more pictures for all of you, so here they are! The first four is an attempt to show you the view as we saw it from our ger. The fourth picture shows you Lotta and Doljin's ger and the house he's building. Also in that picture are the goat and sheep stalls. This is our shower. May is peeking her head out of the stall. Bimba and the kids loved to help us. Here Bimba is bringing us wood for the fence we built. Isn't he cool in his sunglasses? Kate "The Arm" checking the depth of our post hole. Dani is standing by ready to keep digging with a piece of rebar. Stess and Howard using the posthole diggers we brought. They were a great help until we got to the large rocks a few inches down. It got hot during the day so we worked at night on the fence until it was done. This was probably one of my favorite projects because we were all working on the same thing at once.
